Our practice is dedicated to providing thoughtful, evidence-based care in a supportive and respectful environment. We understand that decisions about your child’s health care are deeply personal, and we are here to partner with you every step of the way.
Vaccinations are one of the most important tools we have to protect children from serious illness. They are the result of decades of careful scientific research and ongoing monitoring and have led to dramatic reductions in diseases that once caused significant harm to children and communities. Immunizations are a safe, effective, and essential part of pediatric healthcare. Vaccines do not cause autism or other developmental disabilities.
Our responsibility is not only to the individual patients, but also to the health of all children in our care- including infants and those with medical conditions that make them more vulnerable. Maintaining a fully immunized patient population helps protect everyone in our community.
For this reason, our office requires that all patients receive all school-required immunizations according to the South Carolina Department of Health guidelines.
We are open to reasonable vaccine spacing plans, if there is a clear commitment to competing all required immunizations as demonstrated by completing inoculations at each wellness visit.
At a minimum, we expect our patients to begin immunizations by age 6 months and receive a minimum of one vaccine at each wellness visits and have received all school-required immunizations by age 5 and school-required booster vaccine(s) at age 11.
While we strongly recommend additional vaccines that provide important protections-including influenza, COVID-19, HPV, and meningitis vaccines- these are not required under our office policy.
If you do not have confidence in vaccines as a core part of medical care, we respectfully ask that you seek a provider whose approach is more aligned with your beliefs. This ensures that you can receive care in an environment that feels right for your family, while allowing us to uphold the standards we believe are essential for safe and effective pediatric practice.
